Layover

Layover is compensation paid when a driver is held overnight between loads or before a delayed appointment, typically at a flat daily rate agreed in advance.

Like detention, layover should be stated on the rate confirmation to be collectable.

The cost is larger than the payment: a layover day is a day of fixed cost with no miles run, so a flat layover rate rarely covers what the day was worth.
